There’s a moment on any long walk when you realize the destination was never really the point.
Today The Pilgrim’s Table debuts at www.ThePilgrimsTable.com, Amazon, and other major booksellers. After months and months of writing, editing, doubting, deleting, and starting again, the book is finally in print. I thought reaching this day would feel like an arrival. Instead it feels the way the Camino feels when you finally reach the coast. You stand at the edge of the water, and you understand that the walking changed you more than finishing ever could.
In all honestly, there were times when I wasn’t sure I could finish this book. I never intended to write a novel, let alone one with six distinct voices, perspectives, and backstories. Writing is solitary work, and doubt is loud in a quiet room.
What carried me through wasn’t certainty; it was the people who kept showing up. To the friends who asked how it was going and then actually listened to the answer. To the colleagues who lent their time and their honesty when I needed both. To the readers who believed in five strangers at a table in Muxía before they’d read a word. You were the trail markers when I couldn’t see a path. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
And here’s the part I’m still learning to sit with: this ending is already a beginning.
The Pilgrim’s Table finds our pilgrims reaching a destination that is a new beginning in and of itself. The Pilgrim’s Letter, the second novel in The Camino Chronicles series, will debut by February 2027. There are new chapters for each of these characters. I can’t wait to follow them.
So today I’m holding two things at once: gratitude for everyone who undertook this journey with me, and the quiet thrill of knowing the next one has already begun.
Thank you all very much. I hope you will join me on the path ahead.
